Tennis’s elite meet at Wimbledon, the Women’s World Cup sorts out finalists, the Tour de France starts, and the Copa America reaches its climax in top events in the coming week.

Wimbledon Day 1, Monday

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams are the top seeds as the third major of 2015 begins its run on the grass courts of the All England Club. Williams, 33, is seeking her 21st grand slam victory, which would leave her one behind the open-era leader, Steffi Graf.

Women’s World Cup semi-finals, Tuesday-Wednesday

The top sides are in the final eight, and the semi-finals could have Germany and the United States, each two-time winners, play Tuesday and holders Japan face England or Canada the next day.

Tour de France begins, Saturday week

The 102nd edition of cycling’s greatest event begins in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Vicenzo Nibali of Italy won by more than seven minutes last year. Contenders include Britain’s Chris Froome, Alberto Contador of Spain and Colombia’s Nairo Quintana.

British Grand Prix qualifying, Saturday week

Mercedes-GP teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg seek pole position for Sunday’s race at Silverstone. Hamilton is the defending champion and Rosberg qualified first in 2014. Ten points separate the duo, with Hamilton just in front.

Copa America final, Saturday week

Chile, the hosts, could be playing for their first championship of South America’s top event. Argentina and Brazil also got through to the final eight, though the latter will play without Neymar, who is banned for the rest of the tournament following a red card.
