BUENOS AIRES // David Nalbandian denied that he was considering quitting Davis Cup team for Argentina after their home defeat by Spain in the final at the weekend.
"For me, it's really an honour to represent my country," he said. "I'm going to continue defending these colours in the best way possible."
"Playing (in) the Davis Cup is the best and I'm upset that people have doubted me."
Despite missing the world No one Rafael Nadal through injury, Spain won 3-1 to hand Argentina their first home defeat in 10 years and their third in three Davis Cup final appearances.
"I feel bad about the defeat," the world No 11 added. "They were tough, tense moments we went through.
"I had just as much faith with Rafael or without him. When he didn't come, everyone thought our chances had improved, but it didn't work out that way. This was our worst defeat. We had a sinister weekend.
"We've played in two Davis Cup finals in the last three years and I still think we can win it."

Conflict, drought, famine
Estimates of the number of deaths caused by the famine range from 400,000 to 1 million, according to a document prepared for the UK House of Lords in 2024.
It has been claimed that the policies of the Ethiopian government, which took control after deposing Emperor Haile Selassie in a military-led revolution in 1974, contributed to the scale of the famine.
Dr Miriam Bradley, senior lecturer in humanitarian studies at the University of Manchester, has argued that, by the early 1980s, “several government policies combined to cause, rather than prevent, a famine which lasted from 1983 to 1985. Mengistu’s government imposed Stalinist-model agricultural policies involving forced collectivisation and villagisation [relocation of communities into planned villages].

Band Aid
