World No 8 Roger Federer, of Switzerland, was the main draw on Day 1 of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Monday. He went on to beat Benjamin Becker of Germany 6-1, 6-4. The first round continues Tuesday in Dubai with Tomas Berdych, Juan Martin del Porto and Novak Djokovic all in action.
