While much of the pre-tournament attention at this week’s Dubai Ladies Masters will centre on whether world No 4 Shanshan Feng can defend her title, teenager Charley Hull is hoping to make her own mark at Emirates Golf Club.
The Englishwoman, 17, leads the hunt for the Ladies European Tour’s rookie-of-the-year award heading into this week’s season finale in Dubai, which begins on Wednesday.
Fresh from posting a top-five finish in the Indian Open, Hull leads the rookie standings with €124,144 (Dh 620,000), followed by compatriot Holly Clyburn at €112,807.
It has been a consistent year for Hull, having recorded nine top-10 finishes.
“My game is good enough this year,” she said. “I’ve had a great season and just need that first win to top the season off.”
While the Masters starts on Wednesday, the action on the course begins on Monday.
There is a challenge match, starting at 6pm on the par-3 course. Featuring in the event are Feng, former world No 1 Stacy Lewis, Maha Haddioui, Laura Davies, Carlota Ciganda and Pornanong Phatlum.
The traditional pro-am will be held on Tuesday with morning and afternoon starts.
