Captain Suresh Raina was the hero for Gujarat Lions as they picked up only their second win of the Indian Premier League season on Friday against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chasing 188 to win, Raina struck nine boundaries and four sixes in his 84 off 46 balls to hold the Gujarat innings together as they made it home on 188-6 to win by four wickets.

Robin Uthappa had earlier top scored for Kolkata, striking 72 off 48 balls as his side made 187-5 off their 20 overs.

Gujarat had got off to a strong start in reply as both openers Brendon McCullum (33) and Aaron Finch (31) scored quickly.

Though both fell when they were just looking to be getting into good touch, Raina took the game away from the Kolkata bowling.

Though he was dismissed with eight runs still needed, Gujarat made it home with 10 balls to spare.

Saturday’s action sees Rising Pune Supergiant up against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the late game, top of the table Mumbai Indians will seek to extend their lead against Delhi Daredevils.
