Azhar Ali is on the cover of The National's Sports Section for Saturday, October 15 – second day in a row – as the Pakistan batsman scored a triple century against West Indies on Day 2 of the Dubai cricket Test against West Indies.
Azhar, Pakistan’s ODI captain, defied criticism of his sometimes indifferent form in the short format as well as excessive sweating and cramps to become the first batsman to reach 300 in the UAE. He also became the fourth Pakistan cricketer to reach the milestone.
Pakistan eventually declared on 579 for three before West Indies reached 69 for one at stumps.
