Brazil’s starting to get weird about this World Cup business.
According to the captions accompanying these photos, taken by Reuters photographer Paulo Whitaker, Chef Rogerio Holanda of the San Raphael Hotel in Sao Paulo has taken it upon himself to get his kitchen into the World Cup spirit. By carving some watermelons – presmuably they just had a few extra lying around – into the likeness of Cristiano Ronado, Lionel Messi and local boy Neymar.

Personally, I think I still prefer my elaborate carvings on pumpkins.
