DUBAI // Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum has promised to go "all out" for a win in the Toyo Tires 24 Hours of Dubai after an impressive show in qualifying yesterday. The race begins today and Sheikh Hasher will start from sixth in his Ferrari. The front row will have two Porsche 997 RSRs, with Autorlando Sport ahead of Land Motorsport. The Equipe Verschuur Renault Megane Trophy will start from third while Saudi Arabian team Al Faisal Racing will complete the first two rows of the grid in their BMW Z4 M Coupe.

Sheikh Hasher said: "We are going all out for a good result and to win our class." Khaleji Motorsport's Porsche had to settle for 18th place in qualifying after having to change a clutch before qualifying started. More than 80 cars will line-up for the start of the race, with more than 250 drivers from around 40 different countries competing in the event. Mohammed bin Sulayem, the vice-president of FIA, will flag off the start at 2pm.

Twenty minutes before the flag drops, a two-minute silence will be observed as a sign of respect for the innocent victims of violence in Gaza. @Email:arizvi@thenational.ae
