Humaid Al Masaood is relishing the challenge of round seven of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) when he and Steve Kane get ready to race their Mazda Lola Coupe at this weekend's Road America circuit, the latest venue of Oryx Racing's US debut season.

Widely renowned as one of the best circuits in the US the Road America track is a favourite among all of the drivers given the circuit's great history.

"Road America is a famous venue and I am positive the experience we have gained so far in the series will stand us in good stead," he said.

The Emirati sees the gruelling four hour test in Wisconsin as an opportunity to close the gap on the Series leaders with a strong performance after retiring from the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge in the last round.

"As each race is completed we continue to build the pace of the car, improve on our pit-stops and ultimately close the gap on the leaders," he said.

Abu Dhabi-based Al Masaood, who races alongside British teammate Kane, will be tested by the undulating 6.515km track which is one of only a handful of circuits that remained unchanged since it was built in the 1950s and its long front stretch should benefit Oryx's racing style.

"With an estimated race time of four hours the race should give the teams more opportunity to strategically gain positions," said Al Masaood, speaking ahead of Friday's qualifying.

"Personally I am happy with our race management, we have adapted very well and I am feeling comfortable with how preparations are progressing. The goal is to qualify well and keep the pressure on the leaders."
