DUBAI // The Fazza team of Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir bin Hendi showed their class by taking top honours in the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run on Friday, the precursor to Saturday’s Dubai Grand Prix.
They beat Skydive Dubai’s Sultan Al Dhaheri and Jay Price in the final of the Speed Cat Run, which sees teams compete in a one-on-one race-off in a knockout format.
Fazza beat Spirit of Dubai, Victory Team and the new addition to the Series, Yachts, in the earlier rounds.
The Dubai Duty Free team of Pal Virik Nilsen and Tom Barry Cotter ventured onto the podium for the first time, after finishing third.
The Norwegian-Australian pair, who joined the series in August last year, got the better of Yachts in the race-off for the final podium place.
“It’s great, especially to do it in such a way where it was so close all the way,” Barry Cotter said.
Speaking about Saturday’s main race, which takes place at 3.30pm at Dubai International Marine Club, he added: “The race is obviously very different. The water was much calmer for today’s race and it really suits our set-up, so we’ll see how tomorrow pans out.”
