The UAE Rotax Max Challenge series makes its one visit to the Al Forsan International Raceway in Abu Dhabi today with Oliver George out to extend his lead in the DD2 class.
He leads the standings after seven rounds of the season with 628 points, 138 clear of his nearest rival, Sanad Al Rawahi. The Omani driver can take heart about his chances of closing the gap on Oliver as he has gone very quick around the Al Forsan circuit.
The usual protagonists are expected to be fighting it out in 125 MAX, with championship leader Alexandre Silanine facing pressure from Ameer Hassan, Abdullah Al Rawahi, Philippe Valenza, and Piers Pakenham-Walsh expected to be running at the front.
Hassan won last time out by a slender margin, but on the tight and twisty Al Forsan asphalt the starts will be key. Thomas Bale, who began racing in Europe in the WSK Masters KF Junior class earlier this month in Italy, returns to the Junior MAX 125 class this weekend, but all eyes will be on Pasqual Pook as he tries to consolidate his place at the top of the table. Taymour Kermanshahchi is expected to be leading the assault to take top honours.
In the Mini MAX class, championship leader Tehmur Chohan will look to maintain his advantage over Alain Bauwmans and Ivan Berets, while in the Micro MAX, Sem Knopjes and Ziggy Kermanshahchi are expected to set the pace.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia
