Nick Kyrgios has said he hopes he will have “enough left in the tank” for Australia’s upcoming Davis Cup tie with the United States.
Kyrgios, 20, is through to the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after a recovering from a set down against Martin Klizan on Tuesday night. That match came just a day after the Australian world No 33 clinched his first ATP title in Marseille, and the quick turnaround appeared to hamper Kyrgios before he found his rhythm to grind out the win.

Should Kyrgios reach the final in Dubai on Saturday, it will leave just five days of rest and recovery following a taxing two weeks before taking part in Australia’s Davis Cup tie against the Americans.
Australian No 1 Bernard Tomic is also in action this week, in Mexico, and Kyrgios has said the travel could take its toll on both players.
“It’s never easy traveling from one side of the world to the other in a couple days and then playing, and knowing that the Americans are going to be there early preparing,” Kyrgios said.
“I know it’s going to be a tough tie. Hopefully this week doesn’t take too much out of me.
“I know Bernard is playing in Acapulco. I want him to do well and me to do well this week, but I obviously want enough left in the tank to play Davis Cup.”
