It’s probably not often that NFL star JJ Watt is left star-struck, but the Houston Texan defensive end made his appreciation known when he posed for photos with Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Messi is currently on international duty with Argentina, who will take on Mexico in a friendly at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Wednesday.
And after a training session, Watt and Messi took the chance to get together for a picture.
Despite the clear size advantage, with Watt’s 6ft 5in frame towering over Messi, the American was clearly in awe of the Argentine, accompanying the photo with the caption: “The best football player on the planet”.
Messi may be able to run rings around Watt with a football at his feet, but whether he could pad up and face Watt at a line of scrimmage would be a different matter.
