Neymar staying at Santos

Neymar, the striker, has signed a five-year deal with Santos, his Brazilian Serie A club, spurning a reported offer from Chelsea. The 18-year-old sensation sidestepped Chelsea's reported initial offer of £20 million (Dh133m) and will instead keep his US$1.2m (Dh4.4m) per year deal with Santos. Everyone from football legend Pele to Mano Menezes, Brazil's new national coach, worked for the past few weeks to convince Neymar to stay in Brazil and hone his game. Meanwhile, Brazilian club Cruzeiro have signed Leonardo Sebastian Prediger, the Argentine midfielder, on a one-year loan from FC Porto.

The country's football federation has suspended Carlos Queiroz, the national coach, for one month after a disciplinary committee found him guilty of misconduct. Queiroz was ordered to pay ?1,000 after the committee ruled he insulted an anti-doping team ahead of the World Cup, and that his behaviour disrupted their work.

Panathinaikos, the Greek champions, kick off the league season against Xanthi next week with two new French signings joining France striker Djibril Cisse in their ranks. Jean-Alain Boumsong, a defender and Sidney Govou, a forward, both signed in the summer from Lyon to boost Nikos Nioplias's squad. Cisse scored 23 goals last season to lead Panathinaikos to their first league title in six years.

David Beckham is Major League Soccer's highest paid player, followed by Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez, a report said. Beckham, who has not played for the Los Angeles Galaxy this season because of injury, will earn $6.5m. Henry and Marquez, who joined the New York Red Bulls from Barcelona following the World Cup, will earn $5.6m and $5.54m, respectively.

What are the main cyber security threats?

Cyber crime - This includes fraud, impersonation, scams and deepfake technology, tactics that are increasingly targeting infrastructure and exploiting human vulnerabilities.
Cyber terrorism - Social media platforms are used to spread radical ideologies, misinformation and disinformation, often with the aim of disrupting critical infrastructure such as power grids.
Cyber warfare - Shaped by geopolitical tension, hostile actors seek to infiltrate and compromise national infrastructure, using one country’s systems as a springboard to launch attacks on others.
