Adam Lallana is on the cover of The National's Sport section for the Monday, September 5 edition after scoring the winner for England against Slovakia in their 2018 World Cup qualifying match.
Liverpool midfielder Lallana left it late as possible. Five minutes into the four announced for added time, he "dug out a shot and it squirmed under goalkeeper Matus Kovacik and into the net" as Richard Jolly writes.

It gave England a 1-0 win against Slovakia, a first win for Sam Allardyce as manager and a first win of the Russia 2018 qualifying campaign.
Jolly writes of the outcome:
“As this was, in theory, the toughest game in the group, it felt a big step towards a place in Russia in 2018.”
