Former England batsman James Foster hit a last-ball boundary to power Virgo Super Kings to a four-wicket win over Leo Lions at Sharjah on Thursday.
Needing two runs to win off the final delivery, Foster hit former West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards for four to rejoice with his Australian teammate Brett Lee.
The Super Kings have Azhar Mahmood to thank for reaching a stiff 147-run target as the former Pakistan all-rounder hit 48 off just 28 balls. Azhar arrived at the crease when his side were in trouble at 55 for three, but he strung together handy partnerships with Neil McKenzie (30) of South Africa to take his team to within just 20 runs of victory.

Jayawardene and Bond combine to lead Sagittarius Strikers to win over Virgo Super Kings
The win means Virgo are in joint-second place with Sagittarius Strikers, who earlier in the day thrashed Libra Legends by 63 runs on the back of a Mahela Jayawardene hundred at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Former Sri Lanka batsman Jayawardene hit nine sixes and 10 fours as he scored 124 off just 60 deliveries after his team won the toss and captain Adam Gilchrist opted to bat first. In fact, Gilchrist provided the supporting role for his Sri Lankan teammate as he himself scored 38 off 28 deliveries, hitting three sixes and as many fours as the Australian notched a 102-run partnership for the first wicket before being caught and bowled by former South Africa left-arm bowler Nicky Boje.
There were cameos from Pakistan’s Imran Farhat (18), Michael Carberry (23) and Yasir Hameed (12 not out) as the Strikers posted 227 for three in their 20 overs.
In reply, the Legends got off to a flying start but none of their batsmen built on good starts, with Sean Ervine of Zimbabwe scoring 55 as his side finished 164 for seven in their 20 overs.
