A second wicket century stand by Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson led Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 15-run victory over Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Hyderabad lost captain David Warner (4) in the second over.
However, Dhawan (70) and Williamson (89) then combined for 136 runs to effectively take the game away from Delhi.
After being set 192 to win, Delhi’s reply began promisingly, with Sanju Samson (42) and Karun Niar (33) helping their side to 85-1 by the ninth over, before Nair was run out.
An unbeaten 50 off 31 balls from Shreyas Iyer kept Dehli’s hopes alive, and he found support in Angelo Mathews, who chipped in with 31.
However, the total proved too big to chase down for Dehli, who remain in fourth place in the standings.
Meanwhile Hyderabad move into second, level on points with table-topping Kolkata Knight Riders and separated only by net run-rate.
