New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson will miss the remainder of the Royal London Series against England because of a back injury.
Anderson hurt himself during the first Test at Lord’s, and he has failed to recover in time to take any further part in the tour.
“Corey has been working hard to get back to full fitness for the ODI series, but he hasn’t been able to overcome this injury,” New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said. “We felt the best course of action was to send him back to New Zealand for further assessment.”
After an MRI scan, Anderson has been diagnosed with a new bone stress injury to his lumbar spine.
New Zealand have yet to name a replacement for him in their squad for three more one-day internationals and a Twenty20.
