STAR PERFORMER
Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari)
• Given how difficult overtaking is at the Hungaroring, recovering from 14th to sixth was a great effort from Raikkonen. Good pace and a smart strategy moved him up and only Max Verstappen’s strong defence prevented fifth.
UNDERPERFORMER
Jolyon Palmer (Renault)
• On paper 13th, outperforming his more experienced teammate Kevin Magnussen, was a great effort, but the Briton had a chance to score his first F1 point when he ran 10th, but a spin at Turn 4 ruined that hope.
KEY MOMENT
• The start decided things. Lewis Hamilton, for once, made a great start after so many bad ones earlier in the year, and he was able to control the race ahead of Mercedes-GP teammate Nico Rosberg, despite there being little between them in terms of speed.
OUR VERDICT
• A typical Hungarian Grand Prix: lots of close racing at the front, but little overtaking. Hopefully the long straights of Hockenheim, Germany, next weekend will offer up more entertainment.
