DUBAI // Sergio Garcia sealed a wire-to-wire win at the 2017 Omega Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday, carding a flawless final-round 69 to triumph by three shots.

The Spaniard, ranked at world No 15 coming into the week, held off playing partner Henrik Stenson to seal the Dallah trophy, firing three birdies and no bogeys for a winning total of 19-under par. It is Garcia’s 12 European Tour victory.

In the last group out alongside Stenson and Ian Poulter, Garcia birdied the first hole to extend his overnight lead to four shots, then picked up more shots on the ninth and the 15. World No 4 Stenson had closed the gap to two shots on the previous hole, however a bogey in 15 derailed his bid for a second Classic win. Garcia, 37, was making his 2017 debut.
