Formula One: Tickets for 2016 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix go on sale

The ninth staging of the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix will take place on November 27 at Yas Marina Circuit with chief executive Al Tareq Al Ameri expecting it to be their best race yet.

Tickets for the 2016 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit were put on sale on Sunday, with chief executive Al Tareq Al Ameri expecting it to be their best race yet.

Season finale

The ninth staging of the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix will take place on November 27 at Yas Marina Circuit.

The race was first held in 2009 and for the fifth time it will conclude the F1 championship as it is the final round of what is scheduled to be the longest season in the sport’s history, with 21 races on the calendar.

Discounts

Tickets for November’s race, which will again be in twilight conditions, went on sale on Sunday as the race was launched at a news conference at Yas Marina.

People who buy tickets before May 31 will receive a 30 per cent discount on the cost of their purchase, while there is a 20 per cent off the sale price for tickets bought between June 1 and July 31.

Evolving experience

Al Tareq Al Ameri, the chief executive of Yas Marina Circuit, said: “Since our inaugural race in 2009, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has become the modern definition of an F1 event,” he said.

“Each year, we look to improve on the previous year’s race weekend and to offer our mix of international and local visitors a constantly evolving experience.”

Options

Fans will continue to have the option of standing at the grand prix, with the Abu Dhabi Hill open for a fourth year.

Spectators will also have the option of individual ticket packages, including the one-day roaming ticket on Friday, November 25, of the race weekend, while numerous hospitality options and experiences are available.

Where to purchase

Tickets can be bought online at www.yasmarinacircuit.com, or by calling 02 659 9800, or by going to Etihad shops or Virgin Megastores.

Brunch has been around, is some form or another, for more than a century. The word was first mentioned in print in an 1895 edition of Hunter’s Weekly, after making the rounds among university students in Britain. The article, entitled Brunch: A Plea, argued the case for a later, more sociable weekend meal. “By eliminating the need to get up early on Sunday, brunch would make life brighter for Saturday night carousers. It would promote human happiness in other ways as well,” the piece read. “It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week.” More than 100 years later, author Guy Beringer’s words still ring true, especially in the UAE, where brunches are often used to mark special, sociable occasions.
