West Ham United, the English Premier League side, will train at Dubai Sports City’s football academy this week as part of a warm-weather break in the UAE.
West Ham, who play Norwich City tonight in the league, then have a break in action until February 22, as they have already been knocked out of the FA Cup, which enters the last-16 stage this weekend.
The London side have travelled to Dubai mid-season each of the last two campaigns and manager Sam Allardyce, who spoke of the benefits of training in the sun, will hope the break gives his relegation threatened side a boost going into the business end of the Premier League season.
West Ham – who won 2-0 away at Aston Villa in their last match – are 15th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.
They might not be the only Premier League club making a trip to the UAE with Manchester United, who have also been knocked out of the Cup, rumoured to planning a visit. A spokesman for Dubai Sports City said the venue would not be playing host to United.
