The holiday snaps are starting to be replaced with images and video of more energetic activities as the football fraternity gets into pre-season mode.

Among those working up a sweat is Manchester United's Paul Pogba, who has been spending time in America this summer.

The Manchester United midfielder, whose future is uncertain after he said it could be time for a new challenge, released a host of clips on his Instagram page showing him taking part in a range of exercises.

Sporting an Atlanta United FC shirt - the club for which his brother Florentin plays for - Pogba shows his impressive power and balance as he works on his fitness during the summer break.

At one point, he even trots across the gym with a technique very similar to that he uses when taking penalties.

What next for Pogba?

The future appeared more rosy for the Frenchman at United when manager Jose Mourinho was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He scored 16 goals and recorded 11 assists last season but his performances were inconsistent and United finished in sixth place and missed out on Champions League qualification.

He then said during a trip to Tokyo earlier this month: "After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well ... I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else."

Real Madrid have been heavily linked, as have his former club Juventus.

United's players are due back for training with the club on July 1 and are set to spend time in Australia before returning via Singapore and China before the new season starts.

It remains to be seen how active a role Pogba will play in their preparations.
