The votes have been counted up and it was Virgil van Dijk who was announced as the men's Uefa Player of the Year on Thursday.
The Liverpool defender became the first defender to win the award as he topped the poll with 307 points.
The competition, first launched in 2010-11, had been largely dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the past as they won five of the previous eight titles.
But they had to settle for second and third this time around respectively.
Liverpool, who won the Uefa Champions League in June, had four of the top 10 places with Van Dijk, Alisson, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
