Following another round of Premier League fixtures, Richard Jolly selects his team of the week.

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

Produced the save of the weekend with a magnificent point-blank block to deny West Bromwich Albion’s Jonas Olsson a winner.

Right-back: Daryl Janmaat (Newcastle)

Probably Newcastle’s best defender this season – which admittedly isn’t saying much – the Dutchman was solid as Liverpool were defeated.

Centre-back: Simon Francis (Bournemouth)

The right-back was used in the middle of the defence and excelled to frustrate Chelsea in Bournemouth’s memorable win at Stamford Bridge.

Centre-back: Winston Reid (West Ham)

“Magnificent,” according to his manager, Slaven Bilic, and it was hard to disagree after a defensive masterclass in the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Left-back: Erik Pieters (Stoke)

Another quietly impressive performance from the Dutchman as he helped snuff out Manchester City in Stoke’s fourth clean sheet in five games.

Right midfield: Riyad Mahrez (Leicester)

Upstaged Jamie Vardy and took Leicester top of the Premier League with the first Premier League hat-trick by an Algerian at Swansea.

Centre midfield: Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)

Belatedly returned to the goals to clinch Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Sunderland and showed what he can do in his preferred position.

Centre midfield: Georginio Wijnaldum (Newcastle)

Scored one goal and claimed another as Newcastle ripped up the form book to beat an in-form Liverpool side on Sunday.

Left midfield: Marko Arnautovic (Stoke City)

Scored twice and was inches from recording a hat-trick as he showed his quality to defeat Manchester City.

Centre forward: Odion Ighalo (Watford)

Persistence finally paid off when the Nigerian, who had tormented Norwich’s defence throughout, scored in injury time.

Centre forward: Glenn Murray (Bournemouth)

Had only been on the pitch for 99 seconds when he secured what manager Eddie Howe said was the best in in Bournemouth’s history with a goal at Chelsea.
