The European champions have had a disastrous week, and question marks remain over the future of star names such as Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos

It's said a week is a long time in football - and it certainly has been for Real Madrid.

Knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Barcelona, beaten again by their arch rivals in the Primera Liga and then dumped out of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion by Ajax.

Suddenly, the Spanish giants have nothing but pride left to play for this season.

The chances of manager Santiago Solari remaining beyond the end of the season are close to zero, but the overhaul is likely to be witnessed on the pitch as well as in the dugout.

Real have gone backwards since their last European Cup triumph in May, not least because Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't replaced.

But now it is many of the stars of their successes in recent years who may be set for the exit to create a fresh squad ready for a new era.
