Real Madrid's sacking of Julen Lopetegui on Monday means Santiago Solari has become the 18th manager put in charge of the Spanish club in the past 20 years.

Solari, the coach of Madrid's B-team Castilla, is likely to lead the first-team only for a few weeks, as Madrid begin their search for their next permanent manager.

Madrid have long been synonymous with managerial instability, and a look back over their turnover from the past two decades is testament to that reputation.

In the gallery above, take a look at the list of 18 managers that have been in charge since 1998 in chronological order.
