Premier League predictions: Chelsea lose to Man United, Arsenal get crushed by Man City

This week Graham Caygill also predicts wins for Tottenham and Liverpool

Chelsea 0 Manchester United 1

Why? United failed to convince in beating Tottenham, and Jose Mourinho will likely want to keep things tight at Chelsea, given he is still without Paul Pogba to dominate the midfield. United will look to frustrate Chelsea and hit them on the break, and they have in Marcus Rashford the player who could supply the pace that will give more misery to Conte's side.

Stoke City 2 Leicester City 0

Why? Stoke returned to winning ways with a gritty win at Watford, thanks in no small part to the return to fitness of Ryan Shawcross in the centre of defence. They will be confident of maintaining that form against Leicester.

Huddersfield Town 0 West Bromwich Albion 1

Why? Manchester United victory apart, Huddersfield have struggled for goals and they will find Tony Pulis’s men a hard side to breakdown. West Brom have the quality going forward, and the threat from set-pieces, to take the three points here.

Newcastle United 2 Bournemouth 1

Why? Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth are struggling for the first time since their promotion to the top flight in 2015. That is unlikely to change against Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle, who are doing a great job so far of life back in the Premier League.

Southampton 1 Burnley 1

Why? Southampton have yet to convince this season, though Manolo Gabbiadini is beginning to show signs of recapturing his form from last season. Burnley have improved their away form and they will be surprised if they leave St Mary’s empty handed.

Swansea City 1 Brighton and Hove Albion 0

Why? Swansea really need three points to boost confidence. Tammy Abraham continues to be the bright spark of their forward line up. Brighton have made a solid start to the season, but are usually better on home turf so Swansea will fancy their chances.

West Ham United 2 Liverpool 4

Why? Neither side are particularly great at defence so this may well end up being a straight shootout of the forward lines. In which case this points to Liverpool triumphing, with Mohamed Salah, Philipe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino in great form.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 Crystal Palace 0

Why? Palace would have been galvanised by getting only their fourth point of the season after coming from two down to draw with West Ham. But, unfortunately Tottenham will be too much for them to handle, especially if Harry Kane is back to fitness after missing the Manchester United defeat.

Manchester City 4 Arsenal 1

Why? City have overwhelmed much of what they faced in winning their past eight league games and they should make it nine on the trot against Arsenal. The attacking force of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane, supported by Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva should be too much for Arsenal’s fragile defence to handle.

Everton 1 Watford 1

Why? Everton are managerless and struggling, and have not won since September 23 in the league. Watford though have been rattled by successive losses against Chelsea and Stoke, and a point would not be a bad result for either side under the circumstances going into the international break.
