Mason Mount shines again for Chelsea with two goals in Reading friendly win - in pictures

Mason Mount underlined his potential to be a key part of Chelsea's midfield in the coming Premier League season as the 20 year old struck twice in Sunday's 4-3 pre-season friendly win over Reading.

The Englishman struck twice in the second half as Frank Lampard's side, who beat Barcelona in Japan on Tuesday, maintained their encouraging form ahead of the season start at Manchester United on August 11.

Championship side Reading had opened the scoring through Josh Barrett, but goals from Ross Barkley and Kenedy had Chelsea ahead by half time.

But Reading equalised soon after the restart through Michael Morrison.

Mount, on as a substitute, proved the difference maker as he struck twice in four minutes around the hour mark.

Although Sam Baldock pulled one back for Reading, Chelsea claimed the victory.

Mount is familiar already to Lampard, who replaced Maurizio Sarri as manager in July, as he played under the former England midfielder at Derby County last season.

Mount had played against Barcelona and Lampard had said of him at the time: "Mason's had a great trip and he's announced himself into the first-team squad."
