Each week, The National Deputy Sports Editor Thomas Woods predicts the outcomes of the English Premier League. In Week 6, our man got five correct results from 10 predictions, with two correct scores. Can he do better in Week 7? Here are his results for the season.
Manchester United 3 Sunderland 0
Why? Sunderland look like a team who are destined for the drop, while United have improved with every game. Anthony Martial impressed on his full debut against Southampton, with two goals, and he is a strong shout to score again against this defence.
Tottenham Hotspur 0 Manchester City 0
Why? City have won three of their last four at White Hart Lane, scoring 12 goals to Tottenham's five. Get an early goal here and it could easily be a three- or four-goal win, but I think it will be tight. City have a big Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday ahead and Manuel Pellegrini may well rotate his squad. Tottenham don't score much, but they are pretty strong defensively.
Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 0
Why? Liverpool's 1-1 draw at home to Norwich on Sunday capped off three poor games in a row, but the promising thing is that they had plenty of chances to win that game. They really need a win ahead of a tough run of games that includes Chelsea and Manchester City. Seems like the kind of game they'll win from a set piece and a Martin Skrtel header.
Southampton 1 Swansea 1
Why? Southampton's stingy defence from last season has disappeared but they have one of the league's in-form strikers in Graziano Pelle. His battle with Swansea centre-back Ashley Williams will be enthralling. Swansea are such a strong side this season that you wouldn't be surprised if they come away with three points.
Stoke City 1 Bournemouth 0
Why? Stoke threw away a two-goal lead last week against Leicester but they won't make the same mistake again here. Bournemouth will be up and down this season, they were brilliant in the first half against Sunderland last week, but this is a tougher trip.
West Ham United 2 Norwich City 1
Why? Dimitri Payet is rapidly becoming one of the signings of the summer and he is West Ham's difference maker. He creates goals, has pace and an eye for a finish. Norwich will have a good go, but Payet's class should be the difference.
Leicester City 0 Arsenal 2
Why? Leicester have produced two stunning comebacks in their last two games, against Aston Villa and Stoke, but here they face a different class of opponent. Arsenal's can keep Leicester danger man Rihad Mahrez quiet and should also have plenty of joy down the flanks.
Watford 1 Crystal Palace 2
Why? Watford had a mediocre start to the season, but they have put together two straight wins and look like they have a decent chance of staying up this season. But Palace have a bit more class, especially in the attacking positions, and should come away with three points.
Newcastle 0 Chelsea 2
Why? The 2-0 win over Arsenal last week was a step in the right direction for Chelsea and this is about as easy an away game as they could wish for against a side who scored just three times all season.
West Brom 0 Everton 0
Why? Tony Pulis has turned West Brom into a clean sheet machine and Everton will find them tough to break down. On the other hand, they aren't full of goals. If this game turns out to be a win for either side it will be 1-0.
