Arsenal v Chelsea 2003-04. Chelsea won 3-2 on aggregate. Arsenal would go on to be invincibles in the Premier League this season but they were beaten in the Champions League by Chelsea at the quarter-finals stage. Liverpool v Chelsea 2004-05. Liverpool won 1-0 on aggregate. Still a sore point with Jose Mourinho this one. After a goalless first leg of the semi-final tie at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool took an early lead at Anfield through a Luis Garcia effort, which Chelsea claimed did not fully cross the line, though if the goal had not been given the home side would have likely had a penalty for Petr Cech colliding with Garcia. Liverpool v Chelsea 2006-07. Liverpool won 4-1 on penalties after game had finished 1-1 on aggregate. It was more misery for Chelsea at Anfield as they went out at the semi-finals stage for the second time in three years. Joe Cole's goal had given Mourinho's side a 1-0 win in the first leg, but Daniel Agger's effort at Anfield levelled the tie and it went to penalties where Liverpool prevailed as Arjen Robben and Geremi failed to score. Liverpool v Arsenal 2007-08. Liverpool won 5-3 on aggregate. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the quarter-final tie at the Emirates Stadium the tie came alive in a thriller at Anfield. When Emmanuel Adebayor scored with six minutes remaining to make it 2-2, Arsenal were going through on away goals. Chelsea v Liverpool 2007-08. Chelsea won 4-3 on aggregate. Chelsea finally got one over on Liverpool as they won the third of their semi-final showdowns. The tie went to extra time at Stamford Bridge with the score locked at 2-2, but a Lampard penalty and a Didier Drogba goal score Chelsea to the final. Carl De Souza / AFP

Manchester United v Chelsea 2007-08. Manchester United won 6-5 on penalties after the game had ended 1-1. The first, and so far only, all-English Champions League final was won by Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo's opener for United was cancelled out by Lampard. Chelsea v Liverpool 2008-09. Chelsea won 7-5 on aggregate. Two goals from Branislav Ivanovic had helped give Chelsea a 3-1 win in the quarter-finals first leg at Anfield. But Liverpool hit back to go two ahead in the second leg through Fabio Aurelio and Xabi Alonso to restore parity at 3-3 on aggregate. Manchester United v Arsenal 2008-09. Manchester United won 4-1 on aggregate. A John O'Shea effort had given United a 1-0 victory in the first leg of their semi-final at Old Trafford. Manchester United v Chelsea 2010-11. Manchester United won 3-1 on aggregate. The rematch of the 2008 final, at the quarter-final stage this time, went United's way. Wayne Rooney's goal was enough to win the first leg at Stamford Bridge 1-0 and a 2-1 victory in the second leg at Old Trafford was enough to put Alex Ferguson's men in the last four. As Liverpool and Manchester City prepare for their Uefa Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday, here is a look back at the all-English matches in the competition to have been played since the tournament was rebranded from the European Cup in 1992.

There have been nine in total with some dramatic showdowns, which included one final, as well as plenty of controversies.
