Liverpool's front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah 'the best' in the Premier League, says Dejan Lovren

All three were on target in 4-0 win over Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.

Dejan Lovren believes Liverpool possess the Premier League's best front three in the trio who orchestrated their 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal.

Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all scored in Sunday’s one-sided game at Anfield, leading centre-back Lovren to express his sympathy with the Arsenal defenders.

Mane has become only the second Liverpool player in 23 years to score in their opening three league fixtures, while summer signing Salah has struck in both he started.

And Brazilian Firmino played a part in six goals in two games against Hoffenheim and then Arsenal.

“I'm a Liverpool player and of course for me they are the best,” Lovren said. “They caused Arsenal a lot of problems. You can see the difference those three players make.

“They are amazing. It would be quite difficult for any defender when you are up against Salah, Mane and Firmino. All three of them are top players. They have pace and great quality. ”

Manager Jurgen Klopp’s pressing game is starting to produce goals, with Liverpool making a habit of using attacking players to dispossess opponents.

“As we always say, the first defender is the striker here and everyone did their job so well,” Lovren explained. “Going forward, we really showed our quality. We scored four goals and could have had more.”

Croatia international Lovren is relieved he is spared the task of trying to halt them, even when the stakes are lower.

“I'm lucky that I don't have to face them very often in training,” he said. “It tends to be the guys who aren't in the first XI.”

After beating the teams who finished fourth in Germany and fifth in England, Liverpool’s next opponents in a demanding early season schedule are the side who came third in the Premier League.

“We need everyone to stay healthy during the international break and come back together and perform like that again against Manchester City,” Lovren said.

Liverpool were so dominant that the absence of injured midfielders Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho was barely mentioned. “We've got Adam and Philippe to come back hopefully soon so let's see what we can achieve,” Lovren said.

But midfielder Emre Can admitted it will be tough for Liverpool to surpass their efforts against Arsenal. “I think you can't play much better. The performance was just great.”

The German struck twice against Hoffenheim and said Klopp has urged him to get forward more, something that has been especially significant in the absence of the more attack-minded pair of Lallana and Coutinho.

He added: “He expects that from us midfield players and I tried to do it. Of course I can't do it every time but I tried to do it more often than last year. It's worked good so far.”
