Liverpool's Andrew Robertson leads way for most crosses this season – but who is Premier League's all-time crossing king?

  • English
  • Arabic

For a perfect example of the modern Premier League full-back, look no further than reigning champions Liverpool.

Punting the opposition winger into the stands is no longer enough as left- and right-backs are now vital contributors to team's attacking systems.

Managers at the Big Six will not hesitate in splashing out £50 million ($65m) on their defensive widemen – as shown by the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£50m) joining Manchester United or Kyle Walker (£50m) and Benjamin Mendy (£52m) arriving at rivals City.

At Anfield, you will see two of the finest proponents of the full-back game in Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold but who cost the club nothing like those mammoth transfer fees – with just £8m being spent on the former, while the latter came via the Merseysiders' youth set-up.

And leading the way when it comes to crosses into the box this season is Scotland left-back Robertson, 10 ahead of teammate Alexander-Arnold.

The England right-back finished on top of the pile last season with an impressive 382 crosses into the box, 78 ahead of Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne.

Another consistent performer across both campaigns is Everton left-back Lucas Digne, who currently sits just behind the Liverpool duo in the same third place he occupied at the end of last season.

In the picture gallery above, we take a look at who makes up the top 10 most crosses this season and the Premier League's all-time crossing king. To view the next image, click on the arrows or just swipe.

Who is Mohammed Al Halbousi?

The new speaker of Iraq’s parliament Mohammed Al Halbousi is the youngest person ever to serve in the role.

The 37-year-old was born in Al Garmah in Anbar and studied civil engineering in Baghdad before going into business. His development company Al Hadeed undertook reconstruction contracts rebuilding parts of Fallujah’s infrastructure.

He entered parliament in 2014 and served as a member of the human rights and finance committees until 2017. In August last year he was appointed governor of Anbar, a role in which he has struggled to secure funding to provide services in the war-damaged province and to secure the withdrawal of Shia militias. He relinquished the post when he was sworn in as a member of parliament on September 3.

He is a member of the Al Hal Sunni-based political party and the Sunni-led Coalition of Iraqi Forces, which is Iraq’s largest Sunni alliance with 37 seats from the May 12 election.

He maintains good relations with former Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki’s State of Law Coaliton, Hadi Al Amiri’s Badr Organisation and Iranian officials.
