  • Naby Keita - Liverpool. Regarded as the club's answer to now-retired Steven Gerrard, Keita had fans purring during his first start in the 4-0 win over West Ham. The £50m signing looked totally at home in Jurgen Klopp's side, doing the dirty work as well as playing a part in the action further up the field. On this form, Liverpool look set for a title challenge. AFP

  • Fred - Manchester United. The club's big-name transfer of the summer, the Brazilian made a winning start as United overcame Leicester City 2-1. It was a tidy introduction and expect to see the best of Fred once he links up with Nemanja Matic in the engine room. AFP

  • Lucas Digne - Everton. Second choice at Barcelona, he has started the season as second choice at Everton as Leighton Baines was picked at left-back for the 2-2 draw with Wolves. He came on for the final three minutes but will find Baines difficult to dislodge. Reuters

  • Lucas Torreira - Arsenal. The Uruguayan was given the hardest introduction to the Premier League possible as he stepped off the bench with 20 minutes left and with his side 2-0 down against Champions Manchester City. Showed some resolve and bite and happier days lie ahead. AFP

  • Sokratis - Arsenal. Like Torreira, his first task couldn't have been trickier. Started at the heart of the defence and came out of the match with his reputation still in tact unlike many who have been torn apart by rampant City. AFP

  • Raul Jimenez - Wolves. Most of the headlines from Wolves's 2-2 draw with Everton went to the away side's new signing Richarlison who scored twice in his first match since arriving in a big money move from Watford. But Mexican Jimenez, on a season long loan from Benfica, also made a big impact, netting a late equaliser. Wolves have an option to sign him for £30 million next summer and if he continues like this he'll be well worth it. Action Images via Reuters

  • Joao Moutinho - Wolves. A player of pedigree having won Euro 2016 with Portugal and the Europa League with Porto, he formed an effective midfield partnership with countryman Ruben Neves in the 2-2 draw with Everton having arrived from Monaco in the summer. “They are integrating,” said manager Nuno Espirito Santo. “We train the way we play, so they are always going to be together. We can hope that it gets even better because four weeks they have worked side by side, they still have things to improve." Getty Images

  • Jean Michael Seri - Fulham. Linked with a host of top clubs including Barcelona during the past six months, it was a surprise to see him end up at Craven Cottage from Nice. He played 82 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and did enough to suggest he will be a popular and effective addition. AFP

So nobody did a Fabrizio Ravanelli and banged in a hat-trick (Middlesbrough v Liverpool, 1996) on their Premier League debut at the weekend, but there were a few impressive displays from the new boys.

Chelsea spent big and it already looks to be justified, while Liverpool appear to have found their long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard, and Wolves have also picked up a couple of tidy looking signings.

The opening day fanfare fell flat for West Ham United however, after they paid out on a host of hefty transfer fees only to be on the end of a 4-0 drubbing against Liverpool at Anfield.

It's early days, they'll be saying. And they're right.

Take a look through the slideshow above at how 13 key signings performed.
