Manchester City continue to enjoy their warm-weather break in Abu Dhabi, with midfielders Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva among the players sharing their experiences of the capital on social media.

Pep Guardiola arrived with his first-team squad on Tuesday hours after securing a 2-0 win over Stoke City that restored their 16-point cushion over Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.

The players were straight into training, at the lush surroundings of the Emirates Palace Hotel, while Wednesday appeared more relaxed.

Gundogan, a Germany international, posted on his Twitter account: "Busy working on our skills. Feels good to be back at this stunning place!" - possibly a reference to previous trips to the UAE with his former club Borussia Dortmund, who, like City, have used breaks in their domestic calendar to enjoy trips to the Emirates.

Portuguese winger Silva, sporting a garish pair of pink shorts, posted a picture of himself on his Twitter account dining with Brazilian teammates Ederson, Fernandinho and Gabriel Jesus, with the Abu Dhabi Breakwater in the background.

Silva wrote: "Enjoying a break from @ManCity training here in Abu Dhabi. Charging batteries for important games ahead!"

Several players, including captain Vincent Kompany, defender John Stones and star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, posted good luck messages on Manchester City's official Twitter page to the club's Women's team, who faced Arsenal Ladies in Wednesday night's Women's FA Cup final.

Unfortunately, City lost 1-0.

While the players relaxed, Guardiola met with Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

On Thursday the club will hold a training session for the media at Emirates Palace. On Friday two lucky readers of The National will get to meet the team.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions League also takes place in Zurich on Friday, where Guardiola's side will learn their next opponents as they continue their bid to win the trophy for the first time.

The squad will then fly back to Manchester on Saturday.

City's next Premier League match is on March 31 when they host Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
