Manchester United also represented by two players, while West Ham's in-form Brazilian winger takes his place

Goalkeeper: Alisson (Liverpool) – Another clean sheet for the impressive Brazilian, who shut out Bournemouth as Liverpool won to go top of the league. Reuters

Right-back: Matt Doherty (Wolves) – A revelation this season, the Irishman’s third goal of the campaign secured a dramatic victory against Newcastle at St James’ Park. Getty Images

Centre-back: James Tarkowski (Burnley) – Not merely for the goal that went in off his stomach. Tarkowski excelled in a rearguard action to get Burnley a clean sheet. Reuters

Centre-back: David Luiz (Chelsea) – Terrific all round. A well-taken goal, a wonderful pass that led to N’Golo Kante’s striker and some outstanding defence. EPA

Left-back: Ashley Young (Manchester United) – The captain’s first goal for a year was a spectacular one and set up a rare United rout as they beat Fulham 4-1. Getty Images

Right midfield: Juan Mata (Manchester United) – Brought up both a half-century of goals and assists in the Premier League with a classy display against Fulham. Getty Images

Centre midfield: N’Golo Kante (Chelsea) – A rare goal was well taken. Kante’s trademark industry also helped Chelsea end Manchester City’s unbeaten start to the league season. Reuters

Centre midfield: Lucas Torreira (Arsenal) – An acrobatic volley brought victory against Huddersfield and was what the Uruguayan deserved after another all-action display. Reuters

Left midfield: Felipe Anderson (West Ham) – Kept up his rich vein of form with a sublime finish to decide a derby against Crystal Palace and take West Ham into the top half. Reuters

Striker: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – A hat-trick was beautifully taken, and Salah’s nonchalance in taking his time when scoring his third was both remarkable and admirable. Reuters

Striker: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) – Scored a wonderful goal in the win at Leicester and set up Dele Alli’s strike to send Spurs to Barcelona brimming with confidence. Reuters

Another round of Premier League fixtures have been consigned to the history books, barring Everton's clash with Watford on Monday night, and there were a number of stand-out performances this past weekend.
