El Jaish v Al Ain, Tuesday
Al Ain take a 3-1 lead to Qatar for the second leg of their Asian Champions League semi-final. Caio’s stoppage time goal in the first leg last month gave the Arabian Gulf League side the two-goal advantage that they hold.
Pakistan v West Indies, all week
The first Test in Dubai is continuing, with Pakistan in the ascendancy, and runs until Monday, but there is little time for rest for the two sides before they head down to Abu Dhabi for the second Test in the three-match series, which begins on Friday at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Uefa Champions League, midweek
The third round of fixtures in the group stages of Europe’s leading club competition are highlighted by Pep Guardiola taking his Manchester City side to his former club Barcelona on Wednesday in Group C. Barca have won both their games, while City have four points.
Abu Dhabi Tour, Thursday onwards
The second staging of the race in the UAE capital begins on Thursday. The first stage, the Adnoc Stage, is in Madinat Zayed. There are four stages in total, with the action concluding on Sunday at Yas Marina Circuit. Yousif Mirza leads the UAE challenge in the Al Nasr Dubai team.
US Grand Prix, Friday onwards
Lewis Hamilton has won in Texas the past two years and he will need another triumph at Circuit of Americas on October 23, with practice starting on Friday, as he looks to cut the 33-point deficit to Mercedes-GP teammate Nico Rosberg in the Formula One drivers’ standings.
