Premier League predictions: No stopping relentless Liverpool, Brentford stun Arsenal

We pick out the winners and losers from the latest round of English top-flight fixtures

Sunday: Leicester City v Manchester City (6.30pm kick-off UAE)

Leicester fell to a third defeat on the spin – conceding 10 goals along the way – after losing at leaders Liverpool on Thursday, meaning the Foxes have now dropped down into the relegation zone.

Manchester City's miserable run goes on with the reigning champions now having won just once in 14 matches across all competitions, with their 1-1 draw with Everton – when Erling Haaland missed a penalty – leaving them seventh in the table, six points outside the top four.

Prediction: Leicester 1 Man City 2

Crystal Palace v Southampton (7pm)

Palace battled to a goalless draw at high-flying Bournemouth last time out but the Eagles remain too close to the bottom three for comfort and sit just two points and two places above the bottom three.

So sign of any light at the end of a very dark tunnel for bottom club Southampton whose defeat at home by West Ham was their 14th out of 18 games season which leaves them nine points shy of safety.

Prediction: Palace 3 Southampton 1

Everton v Nottingham Forest (7pm)

Everton followed up their goalless draws with Arsenal and Chelsea by securing a point against another one of the Big Six in Manchester City on Thursday. Wins and goals remain a problem for Sean Dyche's side though who are three points above the drop zone.

Forest maintained their superb form by beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in what was their fourth consecutive win, leaving Nuno Espirito Santo's men fourth in the table, just two points behind Arsenal in second.

Prediction: Everton 1 Forest 2

Fulham v Bournemouth (7pm)

Fulham ended a run of three consecutive draws by defeating Chelsea 2-1 in the West London derby thanks to substitute Harry Wilson's injury-time goal that earned the Cottagers their first win at Stamford Bridge in 45 years.

Bournemouth missed the chance to close in on a top-four place when they could only draw at home to Crystal Palace but extended their unbeaten run to six matches, including four wins, leaving them sixth in the standings.

Prediction: Fulham 2 Bournemouth 2

Tottenham Hotspur v Wolves (7pm)

Spurs are down in 12th spot after losing for the fourth time in five matches following a 1-0 defeat at Forest and could be without a single fit centre-back for the game in North London.

Wolves are on a roll having won both games under new manager Vitor Pereira, the last of which was a 2-0 home victory over Manchester United that lifted them out of the bottom three.

Prediction: Spurs 1 Wolves 1

West Ham United v Liverpool (9.15pm)

West Ham made it four games unbeaten after their 1-0 win at Southampton that came courtesy of Jarrod Bowen's 100th league goal of his career, moving the Hammers up to 13th in the table.

Table-topping Liverpool made it win No 13 in 17 games thanks to a 3-1 win against Leicester City which saw Mohamed Salah score his 16th goal of the campaign. The Merseysiders are six points clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand.

Prediction: West Ham 1 Liverpool 3

Monday: Aston Villa v Brighton (11.45pm)

Villa fell to 3-0 loss at Newcastle and had striker Jhon Duran shown a red card for violent conduct which rules him out for three matches. Unai Emery's men are ninth in the table, although only one point behind the Magpies in fifth.

Brighton's goalless draw with Brentford on Friday means the Seagulls have now gone six matches without a win, a run that has seen them drop down to 10th place.

Prediction: Villa 1 Brighton 0

Ipswich Town v Chelsea (11.45pm)

Ipswich managed to restrict Arsenal to just a single goal at the Emirates on Friday, despite failing to register a single shot on target and conceding 83 per cent of the possession to their opponents. The Tractor Boys remain second bottom, though, three points from safety.

Third-placed Chelsea lost further ground on leaders Liverpool after following up their draw with Everton with a derby defeat against Fulham that leaves them one point behind Arsenal and seven shy of the Merseysiders.

Prediction: Ipswich 0 Chelsea 2

Manchester United v Newcastle United (midnight)

Ruben Amorin's tough start as Manchester United continues after a 2-0 loss at Wolves meaning that the Portuguese has collected just seven points from his six league games in charge. United are now 14th in the table after four defeats in five matches.

Newcastle continued their upturn in form after following up successive 4-0 wins over Leicester and Ipswich with a 3-0 victory over Villa that lifted Eddie Howe's side up to fifth.

Prediction: Man United 1 Newcastle 3

Wednesday: Brentford v Arsenal (8.30pm)

Brentford gained only their second away point of the season with a draw at Brighton that prevented the Bees losing for a third game in a row.

A Kai Havertz goal earned Arsenal all three points at home to Ipswich in what was the Gunners' first match since losing Bukayo Saka with a torn hamstring. The game against Brentford is the first of nine the Gunners will play in January.

Prediction: Brentford 2 Arsenal 1
