With Barcelona set for a major overhaul after finishing the 2013/14 season without a trophy for the first time since 2008, Andy Mitten looks at some of the players whose careers look set to continue away from the Camp Nou.

Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean winger scored a spectacular goal against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, but he has seldom been spectacular in his two seasons at Camp Nou. Juventus are interested in taking Sanchez, 25, back to Italy where he thrived with Udinese. Barca will sell if they get an offer close to the €26 million (Dh130.8m) they paid for him in 2011.

Alex Song

Signed as a midfielder from Arsenal for €19m but played more often out of position as a defender. The Cameroonian, 26, started just 15 league games in 2013/14. His professionalism was never doubted, his talent, being of a sufficient level to play for Barcelona, was.

Victor Valdes

The Catalan goalkeeper with 535 league appearances has decided to leave. He says he wants a fresh challenge after 12 years of being Barca’s No 1 and a huge signing-on fee will not go under appreciated. At 32, he still has several years left as a top goalkeeper. Is recovering from injury at present.

Cesc Fabregas

The Catalan midfielder, 27, does not want to leave a city he calls home and stop playing for a club he has supported all his life, yet he is not popular with Barca fans. Barca will be prepared to sell if they can make a profit on the €34m paid to Arsenal for Fabregas in 2011.

Carles Puyol

The legendary, warrior-like captain, 36, who has succumbed to injuries in recent seasons. With 593 league games since his debut in 1999 and a winner of every major trophy several times over, the central defender will be remembered as one of Barca’s greatest leaders.
