Ahead of the start of the new Bundesliga season, Ian Hawkey looks at five players in new surroundings for 2015/16 and what they can bring to the league in the coming months:
Kevin Kuranyi
The former Germany international striker returns to the Bundesliga, where he thrived with Stuttgart and Schalke, after five years in Russia. Hoffenheim hope that, at 33, Kuranyi still has his flair and finishing.
Arturo Vidal
An intriguing signing by Bayern, who will want to see the tenacious, goalscoring all-round midfielder of most of his Juventus years, rather than the hot-tempered bruiser of the last Uefa Champions League final. They need him fit, too.
Max Kruse
After two solid seasons up front with Borussia Monchengladbach, Kruse hopes his €12 million (Dh48.9m) move to Wolfsburg will advance his case as Germany’s centre-forward at Euro 2012.
Emir Spahic
The veteran Bosnian defender, who has left Bayer Leverkusen in disgrace after assaulting two of the club’s stewards, has joined Hamburg to add some steel to a rickety defence. His disciplinary record will be under scrutiny.
Thomas Tuchel
He has a tough act to follow, succeeding the charismatic and long-serving Jurgen Klopp as the coach of Borussia Dortmund. But starting this season better than Klopp did last should be straightforward enough.
