Euro 2016 champions Portugal return home to hero’s welcome as thousands celebrate in Lisbon – in pictures

Tens of thousands of people greeted Portugal on arrival in Lisbon a day after the team won the European Championship for its first major trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Fernando Santos held the cup up to great cheers. Thousands of people packed the streets to greet the team, which traveled in an open-topped, double-decker bus to the Belem presidential palace and a parade through the city.
