Ahead of the latest round of English Premier League fixtures, The National’s Thomas Woods attempts to predict the scores.

Leicester City v Newcastle United

Leicester had a decent go at Chelsea on Wednesday night, and they have all the momentum in this title race. Newcastle, well they could easily get dragged into the bottom three the way they are playing. Seven losses in a row will become eight. 2-0

Aston Villa v Everton

Tim Sherwood must be worried about Leicester's form and the possibility that Sunderland get their act together as his side are only two points above the drop zone. There's also the chance that the FA Cup final against Arsenal distracts his side. However, with Christian Benteke on form, they should be able to hold Everton. 1-1

Liverpool v QPR

Champions League hopes all but over, no goals in their last two games – Liverpool's season is in danger of fizzling out. But surely they will find the nett against the league's worst defence? 2-0

Sunderland v Southampton

Logic says Dick Advocaat's Sunderland, with just five wins all season, are destined for relegation but we've seen a few unusual results in the past two weeks. So how about Jermain Defoe finds his shooting boots and sends Sunderland to a rare victory? 2-1

Swansea City v Stoke City

There's not much at stake in this one, both sides should finish in the top 10, Europe is out of view too. Hard to pick a winner, so I won't. 1-1

West Ham v Burnley

Burnley are rooted to the bottom of the table, but the one thing going for them is their run of fixtures. This match is followed by Hull away, Stoke at home and Villa away. None of the big guns in there and two relegation rivals. If they can start with a win at Upton Park, they have a shout of survival. 0-1

Manchester United v West Brom

After two straight defeats, United should get back to winning ways against West Brom. They may still be missing Michael Carrick, who makes them a much better team, but this game seems tailor made for Wayne Rooney to exploit a back line that lacks pace. 2-0

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

Chelsea can wrap up the league on Sunday and they will. These kind of occasions usually go one of two ways – either Chelsea let loose on Palace and rack up a cricket score or nerves take over. With three games after this one to clinch the league, Eden Hazard and Co. should be able to play with a bit of freedom and have some fun. 4-0

Tottenham v Manchester City

City will be wary of the fact that United, in fourth, and Arsenal, in third have winnable games this weekend and defeat at White Hart Lane could leave them fourth again - and facing a tricky play-off to make the Champions League. Both sides have goals in them and this should be a cracker. 2-2

Hull v Arsenal

Hull produced a fantastic display against Liverpool on Tuesday night, winning 1-0 to put some daylight between themselves and the relegation zone. Can they do it against against Arsenal? Unlikely as the visitors will have a better control of possession and have more bite up front with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud. 0-2
