The Confederation of African Football says the 75,000-seat Cairo International Stadium will host next month's Super Cup between the winners of the continent's two main club competitions.
Football games in Egypt with large crowds have been rare since more than 70 people were killed in a riot at a stadium in the Mediterranean city of Port Said in 2012.
CAF didn't say if there would be any restriction on fan numbers at the game between African Champions League winner Al Ahly of Egypt and Confederation Cup champion Sfaxien of Tunisia on February 22.
Cairo hosted two major games late last year at smaller stadiums in the still-troubled capital. The Egypt-Ghana World Cup play-off and Al Ahly's Champions League final victory over Orlando Pirates were held without major incident, although there were skirmishes between fans and police before the Al Ahly game.
