The Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita is refusing to get carried away with his side's seemingly unstoppable charge for an historic trophy treble this season, pointing out that nothing has been won yet. Barca's last piece of major silverware came back in 2006 but the Catalan giants are on course to become the first Spanish team to win the treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League this term. Pep Guardiola's side boast a six-point lead at the top of the Primera Division with eight games remaining
They are already in the Copa del Rey final, where they face Athletic Bilbao next month, and have secured a showdown with Chelsea in the Champions League semi- finals. In all, Barca have won 37 of their 50 competitive matches this season, losing just five times. "We still haven't won any title, so we cannot talk about success," said Keita. The former Sevilla midfielder was speaking after his goal helped Barca extend their recent unbeaten run to nine matches with Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich in the return leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Keita finished off a fine team move in the 73rd minute to cancel out Franck Ribery's 47th-minute opener for Bayern and earn Barca a 5-1 aggregate victory over the German outfit, who had a point to prove. "Bayern are a great team, but we were very well prepared," added Keita. "I've scored a very important goal for the team and I'm very happy, but the most important thing is the group." sports@thenational.ae
