Baniyas line up former Everton striker to replace Carlos Munoz

aBU DHABI // Denis Stracqualursi, the former Everton striker, has arrived at Baniyas and will have a medical Thursday before he completes his move to the Arabian Gulf League club.
The Argentine, 26, will fill the void left by the Chile international Carlos Munoz, who moved to the champions Al Ahli.
"He will undergo the medical and once he passed it he will be a Baniyas player," said Hassan Al Marzouqi, the club spokesman.
The Baniyas coach Luis Garcia has been speaking on the need of a tall striker and Stracqualursi, who stands 1.9 metres, fits that bill perfectly.
Munoz was the only foreigner to be retained by Baniyas from last season but having made no impact he was sold to Ahli after four league appearances, scoring in his last game in the 3-2 defeat to Emirates.
If successful with the medical, Stracqualursi will combine with the Spaniards Joan Verdu and Angel Dealbert, and the South Korean Kim Jung-woo as the fourth foreign player for Baniyas.
Stracqualursi arrived in Abu Dhabi from Ecuadorean Serie A side Emelec where he scored on his debut. The Argentine began his professional career in 2007 at Union de Sunchales in the third division in his homeland.
He joined Gimnasia the following year and moved to Tigre in 2010/2011 in the Argentine Primera Division.
He was loaned to the English Premier League club Everton for a season and was back in his homeland for a spell with San Lorenzo on a free transfer from Tigre.
