Arsenal are weighing up whether to make an offer for Manchester United defender Jonny Evans, according to press reports.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for a centre-back to bolster his defensive ranks.
And according to a report in the Daily Mirror, the FA Cup champions are considering a £10 million (Dh57m) bid for the Northern Irishman.
West Bromwich Albion have also been credited with an interest in Evans, although manager Tony Pulis is reportedly keen for United’s valuation to be lowered.
With United actively pursuing a new central defender, Evans is aware his game time at Old Trafford will be limited next season. However, he would likely face similar trouble breaking into the Arsenal first team, with Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny Wenger’s undisputed first-choice pairing.
Everton are another club that have previously been mentioned, although United’s signing of Matteo Darmian — and thus the end of their interest in Seamus Coleman — means a swap deal involving the two players is highly unlikely.
