Ghana defender Harrison Afful remains a transfer target for Al Wahda after his proposed move to the Abu Dhabi club fell through earlier this month.
Afful, a key player in the Ghana team that reached the African Cup of Nations final, was expected to complete a move to Al Wahda during the winter transfer window only for delays on the part of his current club Esperance to scupper the deal.
However, the move is far from dead, with Al Wahda revealing the club is keen to reopen talks over a summer move.

“We are still open for talks with the player but that will not be until the end of this season,” said an official of Wahda.
“There is nearly four months left in the season and that’s a long time, and many things can change during this period.
“We have a new coach for six months and the club management and the technical committee will evaluate the second half of our season before arriving at any decisions.”
The Ghana international had earlier agreed to a pre-contract and passed his medicals but a delay on his terms forced Wahda to call off the deal.
“Al Wahda were waiting for an answer from Esperance since Monday (last week) but they did not give a green light,” Afful’s agent was quoted as saying.
“It came afterwards but Wahda had made their decision on the foreign quota for the current season. Both teams have decided to postpone the deal to next season.”
Afful‘s contract with Esperance ends on June 30.
