DUBAI // Al Nasr expect to further augment their squad this month as they target a top-three finish the Pro League.

The Dubai club, who face Al Shaab in the Etisalat Cup on Wednesday, have already signed Takayuki Morimoto, the Japanese striker, from Italian Serie A side Catania.

However, officials at Nasr have identified a number of options to strengthen the side's defence, and are confident of swelling their Emirati contingent before the transfer window closes.

Nasr are currently fifth in the league standings at the halfway stage, 12 points behind leaders Al Ain.

"There are some ongoing negotiations with local players within the UAE," said Ahmed Khouri, vice president of Al Nasr Sports Club and Football Company. "We're trying to come up with some quality players for the next term of the league.

"Nothing has been completed yet, but hopefully within the next couple of weeks we'll try to close some deals."

Khouri added: "For the past few seasons we were always in the top three, and are looking to maintain that. As regards to winning the championship? I think it's too far between Al Ain and us.

"However, the top five are very close in terms of points, so hopefully we can move into third at least."
