The Arabian Gulf League’s leading scorer Mirko Vucinic played down his chances of topping the goalscoring charts this season for Al Jazira ahead of their meeting with Baniyas on Friday.
The Montenegro international has scored 14 goals in nine games, which is eight more than his nearest challenger.
"I am more concerned in helping my team winning games and not about me winning the title of the top scorer," Vucinic said. "Of course, I will be happy when I score, but I will be happier when Jazira win all their matches. When the team wins, we are all winners."
Meanwhile, Mohammed Fawzi, the Al Ain midfielder, said a defeat would be unthinkable when they travel to Kalba for a meeting with the last-place team.
“Obviously, we are expected to win this game, but it won’t be easy,” the Emirati international said.
“The coach [Zlatko Dalic] has already reminded us to be guarded against complacency. We will have the same respect for Kalba as we would against any opponents in the top flight.
“For Kalba, it is a big game in front of their home fans. They have nothing to lose as a team at the bottom of the table but for us, it is unthinkable not to return with three points.”
