ABU DHABI // Al Jazira’s Argentine playmaker Manuel Lanzini is on the verge of a season-long loan move to English Premier League club West Ham United.

Lanzini, 22, arrived at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium last summer on a four-year deal, but looks set to spend the forthcoming season in England.

“The club received a few offers for Lanzini but West Ham seems to be the most appropriate,” said an official of the club.

“The two parties have agreed on a loan deal but the paperwork has yet to be completed.”

West Ham were reportedly interested in Lanzini last summer before he opted for a move to Al Jazira. The London club have beaten Sharjah to the deal, with the Arabian Gulf League side also keen to sign the attacking midfielder.

Lanzini, who Al Jazira signed from River Plate, enjoyed an impressive debut season, scoring eight goals in 24 appearances as the Abu Dhabi club finished second in the league.
